This is Dedicated to……
Before I say who this post is about, I want to thank everyone for the well wishes you all sent Seth. He spent 2 weeks being completely miserable. Which translates into 2 weeks of me being miserable. He refused to take any of the oral antibiotics. It didn’t matter if it was chewable pills or liquid. I would try to hide it in food or juice and that little poophead could taste it. Then, he would make himself puke. And go hide behind the couch. So, he ended up having to get a total of 6 shots over 3 doctor visits. He calls them his “flu shots”, and he is NOT a fan of them. But, he is back to his regular bouncing off the wall, driving me crazy self! And I love it!!
I have decided to write a post about the lovely Sarah. I just love her to pieces. I actually found her by reading the comments on a different blog. When I went to Sarah’s site, I just fell in love. I got the distinct joy of meeting her in Florida. At that famous Halloween party that a certain Avitable hosts! Once she got to the hotel, I said hi to her. The first thing she said to me “who are you?”. She thought I was a brunette!
She is the little sister that I always wanted. I end up sending her “mom” emails making sure that she’s taking care of herself. She is great about humoring me:) Another reason that I love her. Plus, we have very similar taste in music, which is a bonus.
What I love the most about Sarah is that she is such a strong woman, and she doesn’t even realize it. She deals with a lot of crap on a regular basis, and it hasn’t taken her down. She may have her bad days, but she comes back. She has more strength than I ever had at her age, and probably more than I have now. She truly amazes me. I also love that she is majoring in a science field. I am a total science geek.
And did I mention she’s brave. She defied her parents and traveled across the country to meet up with a bunch of people that she’s never met before in her life! Getting her to move out her by me has become my new hobby. I think its a great idea…she would love it! We have all 4 seasons, and I’ll let her bring her dog!
She took time out of her busy schedule to help Taylor with her science homework one night. She responds to my emails with lengthy ones, and I love that. She is, without a doubt, the nicest person that I have ever met. And funny. She cracks me up.
One day, when my life has me all stressed out, I am going to show up at her local airport. She told me that we can go get chocolate milkshakes, and more. I am going to take her up on that very soon.
Like I said, she’s the little sister that I never had. And I love her dearly.
Interesting or gross?
Did you know that when a child’s eardrum ruptures, that there is a massive amount of white/green pus that just oozes from the ear? I found that out today. However, Seth’s ear felt better after all that pressure was released. The bad news is that according to his doctor, his other eardrum should blow by tomorrow. And that oozing…it can last for up to 36 hours. And it can lead to a swimmer’s ear infection on top of a bacterial one.
Yummy.
Consider this your education for the day.
You may go about your normal business now.
Quickies…
Its been awhile since I’ve posted. And I now that you have been sad and missing me. But, I have some really good excuses….my mom was visiting, it was Seth and Taylor’s birthday last week, Seth has been sick since last week (which is way Taylor’s birthday post hasn’t been published yet), and I’ve been down right exhausted. So, I’m just gonna update what’s been going on in bullet style. Because everyone knows how much the ladies like the bullet:)
- My mom left on Sunday and I’ve been bumming big time since she left. I always feel alone after she leaves…due to the fact that other than my immediate family, I have no family out here.
- My baby is 4 and my other first baby is 14! I refuse to believe that I’m old enough to have a 14 yr old.
- Said 14 yr old wants to get an ear gauge (google it, they look hot on punk guys and that’s about it) and won’t talk to me right now because I said HELL NO!!!
- On Seth’s birthday we ended up in the emergency room. He has a really nasty double ear infection.
- He won’t take his medicine. When I can get it in him, he makes himself puke. So, we’re just waiting to see if it goes away on its own or if he’ll need antibiotic shots….good times.
- Travis got offered a job in Chicago. It wouldn’t even remotely need to be started until January at the earliest. We need to go through our budget and really tighten our belts so we can get things paid off so we can afford to move.
- Somehow I got elected to be a Superuser for the new online patient assessment we’ll be using in March. This means I get extra training, a special t-shirt (I know you’re jealous) and will be available to answer staff questions.
That’s it. That’s what has been occupying my time lately. Now, I must go catch up with everyone else!
Golden Birthday
Today’s post is a little sappy. But, I’m a mom and I’m allowed to be sappy on my baby boy’s birthday.
Dear Seth,
You are 4 today. I’ve watched you grow, wonder, and question over the past 4 years. I’m amazed at the little boy you are becoming. Your chubby cheeks are gone. You have a vocabulary that rivals mine (including the naughty words). You ask my questions about all the planets that I have no clue how to answer.
You are the child that I was told I wouldn’t have. You gave me 9 months of pure pregnancy hell. You gave me the biggest scare while I was in labor. You had a stay in the local children’s hospital for a few nights when you were 1, which again scared the bejesus out of me.
Today I look at you and I see wonder. You’ve taught me to see things in a new light. You question everything and anything. You have wonder for the world. I hope with all my heart that never changes. I love you. Happy Birthday.
